Game Development Log 6
I really underestimated the amount of time it took to write all the new party member dialogues. Because of that one planned feature didn't made it into this version which are new gacha cards. I also had far less time to test things this month since time got really tight but I managed to implement everything else that i planned to for this month.
===To Do Stuff===
Some things I also had not the time to finish yet. I will take care of them over time if I got some to spare. Hopefully next month. Currently missing things:
- A lot of optional demon fights missing their unique stats and gimmicks.
- The new boss in the third dungeon is missing their unique skills.
- Balancing of new enemies and bosses.
- Alternative endings for the new transformation
===TF Progress===
Only one extra tf got added which is the winner of the first vote: The Sabertooth TF.
===Rebalancing===
Mouse form got slightly rebalanced:
While having tiny Mouse Efefct:
-Hostility -40% ---> -50%
-Healing Effects +40% ---> +50%
-Critical Dodge Rate +20% ---> +50%
Kitsune Skills can now be used even in tiny form.
Mouse Support: "Can't catch me!", now also grant "First Strike"
Mouse Support: "Hiding in the Corner", now also grant "Flurry"
Mouse Support: "Marathon Sprint", now also inflict "Dodge Break"
Mouse Support: "Powerful Will", got HP cost reduced down from 25% to 20%.
Mouse Trait: "Agile Cheese Hunter" and Special TF Equipment effects got switched and buffed.
One new skill learnable at the dojo.
===Area Progress===
The first part of the Frozen Tundra got added. Together with some new common enemies to fight and treasures to find.
The third world fragment together with its dungeon and quest got added. Like said before it's more on the puzzle heavy side but most can be skipped with the right transformations. Exploring the previously inaccessible desert path in the south-western plains might be a good start to look for the entrance.
Also Serina now can join you as a permanent party member. She shows up in the frozen tundra if you made enough progress in the main story.
===Side Quest===
The last missing Casino Game got added: Treasure Chest Lottery.
Very luck based but also very high rewards possible. A good alternative if the slot machines aren't kind to you.
Also for the other two minigames, all missing levels got finished.
Now you can play up to level 5 of the two minigames if you made enough story progression.
Also inspired from a previous suggestions. The entire intro of the game is now skippable. Saving a lot of time on secoundary or even first time playthroughs. Just know that some things can't be gotten early like the Item and Monster book if you skip the intro..
Added new solutions for some puzzles. Sometimes puzzles have more than just one way to solve them.
The Katana weapon class also got finished and implemented. Like all others it can be bought in the class shop once enough reputation is acquired. Also I changed the reputation requirements of some weapon licenses.
And lastly, a ton of new extra party member dialouge got added for a ton of quests. Almost every single quest that is not a tf episode has new optional dialogue from party members. Some quest have only a few extra sentences while other have a lot more extra dialogue. It will only trigger if you have the right party member in your party. (Not needed to be in the active battle member party.) This mainly was made to make the party members feel a more alive and also provide some more lore as well. Some quest rewards also can slightly change now if you have certain party members in certain quests but nothing unique or missable.
Coming up with all that extra dialogue almost took up half the time I work on the game this month but I think it was worth it to make the game feel more alive, but this also unfortunately means there are only a very few new quests this time. I think only two new sidequests.
Also the sidequest "Relic Search (Part 2)" can now be completed.
Shira can now read your fortune at her shrine. Having a good fortune can affect various things which I won't spoiler.
And the last new thing added, more secrets to find.
===What is next?===
Version 0.6.0 will focus on more transformations again.
This time two snow themed ones, fitting for the new cold area. I also planning on finishing the Frozen Tundra who still is very barren at this point. And also add some guild quest for that area as well.
===Community Changes and Improvements===
Some suggestions and feedback from the community that I also changed/included to make the game better.
- Fixed town tour skip resulting in a progress blocking bug
- Fixed another potential softlock in the mermaid tower involvong switches
- Fixed animation errors when using on of the new form then swimming or climbing
- Buffed Mouse Form (Feedback welcome)
- Fixed a animation display bug when climbing trees
- Fixed some inherited skills got wrongly displayed
- Heat and Cold system got improved and more clothes got heat and cold resisting properties.
- New items added to the loot pool of common and rare treasure chests
- Rebalanced Mimics. They are now harder and you only can't flee from the battle on hard or higher difficulties anymore
- One of Lima's skills got slightly nerfed
- Fixed a lot more minor spelling mistakes
